Stuttering and other fluency disorders.

My research interests concerns the functions of the brain, primarily aiming at the mechanisms of the speech disorder stuttering. The research has an integrative approach, including speech motor control, influence of situational variables, psychological aspects, and background factors.

At the moment we are working with detailed analysis of stuttering in speech, for increased understanding of the nature of the disruptions. We are also working with a new EEG-lab, for studies of brain activity related to speech. Previous work has involved the incidence of neurological background factors, traits of ADHD in a subgroup of persons who stutter, meta analysis of studies of temperament and stuttering, and measurement of motor threshold using TMS (transcranial magnetic stimulation).
