Developmental Neuroscience

Developmental biology explains how we are shaped and grow during prenatal life; and how our organs such as the brain, spinal cord and peripheral nervous system emerge. Fundamental knowledge in this subject can result in ideas on how to treat injuries to the nervous system later in life, and how degeneration or uncontrolled growth in nervous tissue can be mastered clinically.

Research focusses on growth, regeneration and protection of the brain, including the very special area developing into the retina of the eye during our fetal period, as well as during injuries and disease later in life.
